This tour is best to take upon arrival in Wemindji. Let us know when you will be arriving, and we can arrange a time.

Introduce yourself to Wemindji and the Cree people
With more than 20 locally owned businesses, Wemindji boasts the title of leader in economic and Cree community development in the region, so you can imagine how strong the sense of cultural pride is within this welcoming town. On this tour, you will orient yourself in this charming spot as well as receive a comprehensive primer on the Cree culture and way of life. This tour includes visiting the Band Council Administration and the Cree Trappers’ Association buildings as well as the Cree Cultural Village. This is your chance to meet with Cree people that will be able to tell you about their values and daily practices.
Short walks throughout town and stops for photos at historical markers will help to break up the tour. With 39 points of interest throughout the town — including an Inuit-made chair over 100 years old, Hudson Bay’s old warehouse, and the mini dam, to name a few — this tour will keep you entertained from start to finish.
We recommend taking the tour between 9AM and 5PM to be able to go inside the buildings and meet the people that are vital to the community of Wemindji.

Can I make my tour private?
Yes. Your group must be at least 2 people, and please indicate your interest in a private tour when inquiring.
Are children allowed on this tour?
Absolutely! It is a bit lengthy, so it may not be apt for very young children.
Will there be bathrooms available along the way?
Yes, we will have consistent access to bathrooms.
What’s your cancellation policy?
Guests will be issued a full refund if the tours are canceled within 24 hours of the departure time. Anytime after that, no refund will be issued.
